Lynn Koble

Lynn Koble's work follows her curiosity about how people experience, order and disrupt their world according to systems, both scientific and personal, tangible and virtual. At Sculpture Space she created Capacity, which consists of an eight-foot diameter felt-covered circle, a collection of liquid-filled laboratory flasks, and the elliptical shadows cast by both. The large-scale sculpture draws connections between the elements of nature and the elements of science and mathematics, which have a long-standing love affair with formulas, systems, and solutions.

Koble is a multimedia artist whose work incorporates sculptural form, sound, motion and interactivity. She has had solo exhibitions at Wave Hill, Bronx, NY; Swarm Gallery, Oakland, CA; Venetia Kapernekas Gallery, New York, NY; PS122 Gallery, New York, NY; and Braunstein Quay Gallery, San Francisco, CA. Her work has been featured in group exhibitions at the Brooklyn Museum, Brooklyn, NY; Socrates Sculpture Park, Long Island City, NY; Islip Art Museum, East Islip, NY; and Exit Art, New York, NY.

Koble has participated in residencies at The MacDowell Colony, Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture, Djerassi Program, and Harvestworks Digital Media Arts Center. She has received numerous grants including the Foundation for Contemporary Arts, The Puffin Foundation, and Northern Manhattan Arts Alliance. Koble received an MFA from Rutgers University and a BFA from Alfred University. She lives and works in New York.
