Diana Al-Hadid

Diana Al-Hadid’s works address “idealizations, romance, mystery, and anticipation — things suspended in distances, always beyond reach.” Her most recent sculptures deal with the study of place and myth, as they shape our sense of self. At Sculpture Space she created two large-scale installations – The Gradual Approach of my Disintegration and Pangaea’s Blanket and the Slowest Descent from Grace and one sculpture, Spun of the Limits of my Lonely Waltz. A summa cum laude graduate of Kent State University, Al-Hadid received her MFA in Sculpture from Virginia Commonwealth University in 2005. Recently she presented Placeless Places and Mythological Landscapes at the SECAC Conference in Little Rock, AK, and participated in the Bronx Museum’s Artists-in-the-Marketplace program. Her work has appeared at Black and White Gallery, New York, NY, Vox Populi, Philadelphia, PA and at DePauw University, Greencastle, IN. Al-Hadid lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
